Programs Spotlight
Eye Care for Refugees - Jordan
Providing quality eye care for refugees + underserved communities.
At IDEAS, we work to identify and address barriers to flourishing that arise from a lack of access to basic resources. Eye Care for Refugees provides accessible primary care optometry services, including prescription eyeglasses, optometry consultations, and basic ocular treatments.
Serve + assist refugees through eye care
We provide eye health exams + eyeglasses through small church-based clinics.
What began as a “medical day” at two small church clinics in 2016 has expanded to other locations, including churches and community centers that offer optometry care at their facilities. These clinics help meet the needs of Sudanese, Iraqi, Syrian, and Yemeni refugees, along with some local Jordanians.

Stories of Transformation
Alma was born in Guatemala with a disability called spina bifida. Unable to walk, she spent the first 14 years of her life isolated, locked in a room, confined to a bed or the floor. Her mother said she was a mistake. Her father said she was not his daughter. Alma wanted to go to school and have friends, but her disability made that impossible.
