Leverage your fish farming skills to bring transformational hope to marginalized communities in India!

IDEAS partners with an organization in India that is seeking a Fish Farmer to develop a new fishery within a community development project. 

This program will be the model center of training in the region so that local communities may become healthier and sustainable. 

The vision of this organization is to liberate the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to care for orphans and widows, to empower youth and women, and to reach the hardest and darkest sections of India's society with love and light.

Qualifications

Qualifications Include:

  • Experience in developing and running a fish farm.
  • Experience in training, teaching, and management.
  • Ability to learn the local language.
  • Adaptability to the Indian culture.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Feeding fish by hand or operating automatic feeding systems. 
  • Grading fish by size, moving them to bigger tanks or cages. 
  • Checking and maintaining water quality.
  • Checking fish for disease, preventing and treating infection.
  • Draining and cleaning tanks, filters, and nets. 
  • Repairing tanks or cages. 
  • Getting fish ready for sale, gutting them and packing them in ice for transport. 
  • Maintaining buildings and equipment, involving basic joinery, plumbing, and electrical work.
