Use your skills and passions for working with children and teach at an English Activities Camp in Tunisia!

IDEAS has partnered with an English Activities Camp that is helping meet the burgeoning need for young Tunisians to learn English. Tunisia is making great strides toward rebuilding their nation in the post Arab-Spring era and is charting a positive course for other nations in the region to follow. Tunisians realize that if they want their children to have access to the very best opportunities for higher education and employment in the 21st century, they need to learn English. This learning center has programs for children ages 2-14. The approach to teaching English is based on research from the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition ( and is highly effective with young children.

IDEAS is looking for energetic English teachers with a passion for teaching young children.

This approach utilizes a variety of highly engaging, motivating activities such as sports, music, art, drama, and games to teach English to children ages 2-14. Behind every activity is a robust, coherent language acquisition curriculum. Our English teachers will be involved with every aspect of the learning process: planning, preparation, implementation, and assessment.



  • Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in elementary education, early childhood, or ESL is highly desirable. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Passion for, and experience in, working with small children (e.g., preschool, daycare, kindergarten, elementary school, summer camps, Sunday school).
  • Lots of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Native English speaker. No foreign language required, but French or Arabic would be a plus.

Finance Administrator:

  • Proven finance/bookkeeping experience.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software.
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office.
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • BS degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Native English speaker.
  • No foreign language required, but French or Arabic would be a plus.
  • Must be able to drive a non-automatic vehicle.
Program Costs

$1230 per month

  • Budget is based on a single person for a full academic year and includes round trip airfare from the United States, housing, support raising, and program development costs. A discounted lunch is provided daily at the school. Married couples and family budgets will vary.
  • Stipend is provided for full-time teachers of $650 per month and can offset the overall program cost.
  • Applicants interested in volunteering for less than one academic year or who are interested in the Summer English Camp will have a personalized budget.

All program costs are an approximation and are subject to change.

Items not covered in program cost are immunizations, international insurance, spending money, in-country personal travel costs, visa, and phone costs.

This camp is located in La Marsa, Tunisia, a suburb of Tunis nestled along the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The programs are held at a charming villa perched atop the hillside of La Marsa, with a breathtaking view of the sea and just a five-minute walk from the beach. This unique location also lends itself to exploring centuries of Mediterranean history and culture. The Roman ruins of Carthage are less than 10 minutes away, and the Basilica of Damous Karita, where the canon of Scripture was completed in AD 397, is just 5 minutes away.
