As an engineering and science University, it strives to meet a severe need for the development of local technological skills and expertise within Uzbekistan in engineering and science, to answer the demands of the country’s newly evolving economy. The mining and energy (particularly gas and oil) sectors make up a significant share of Uzbekistan’s GDP. 

Reporting to the Rector, the Director of Student Affairs is responsible for overall effectiveness and budget management of the Campus Life unit, including Housing, Campus Dining, and Conferences & Events. The Director leads the strategic vision and direction for Campus Life and serves as a member of the Campus Life Leadership Team with institutional responsibility for facility stewardship, crisis management, diversity, and efforts to advance student learning, development, retention and wellbeing.

 Responsibilities:

  • Set strategic vision, lead short- and long-term planning, oversee operations and staffing, and implement assessment and evaluation for all departments within Campus Life;
  • Oversee renovation, renewal, new construction, and general stewardship of all Campus Life facilities;
  • Direct budget development and fiscal management for a complex budget from multiple sources and expenses in all supervision areas;
  • Manage diverse and complex legal and risk management issues;
  • Maintain a productive working relationship with Academic Affairs, Graduate Studies, Enrollment Management, Facilities Management, Design & Construction, Budget, Controller, CCIT (Computing, Communications, & Information Technology), Human Resources, Public Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Internal Audit, and others;
  • Manage complex contracts for student health, campus dining, and transportation, including assessment, quality assurance, contract and rates negotiation, accountability, and strategic planning;
  • Manage all aspects of the campus dining service contract, ensuring quality and service of the program and adherence to contract requirements; including but not limited to observing and ensuring food quality, variety and safety, as well as effectiveness in operations, facilities, and guest experience;
  • Represent the University to various institutional divisions by serving on University committees as well as externally to students and/or the general public/local community. Coordinate campus-wide outreach and support for students of concern, including excused absences, faculty/staff outreach, and partnering with families and community resources;
  • Serve as chair of Crisis Assessment, Response, and Education (CARE) Team, including intervention, prevention, and policy development;
  • Respond to on-call and emergency situations, including facilities and student emergencies. These situations often occur on campus on evenings and weekends, as well as during the typical workday.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited four-year institution of higher education and significant, progressively responsible professional experience within a comprehensive student affairs system in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of auxiliary services, student development, crisis management, budget management, strategic planning, assessment, and staff supervision is expected.
  • Must possess demonstrated management experience in the development and training of professional staff; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff; and outstanding administrative, planning, and supervisory skills are essential.
